Battery Design

MODULE DESIGNS, MODULE CAPACITIES (kWh), AND PACK CAPACITIES (kWh)

  • EVDrive offers six standard module designs, listed in the table below, which are determined by the cell arrangements. For example, a 12X28 module is 12 cells high and 28 cells wide for a total of 336 cells.
  • The capacity (kWh) of each module is a function of the number of cells. The capacity of each of the six standard module designs is listed in the table below.
  • The total capacity (kWh) of the pack is dependent on the number of modules. For example, a 12X28 module pack (6.0 kWh per module, see table below) with 10 modules has a capacity of 60 kWh.

BATTERY PACK DIMENSIONS

EVDrive batteries offer unprecedented dimensional flexibility.  The cross-sectional dimensions (height and width) of an EVDrive battery pack are determined by which of the six standard module designs are used. See the table above for height and width of a pack with each of the standard modules. For example, an 12X28 battery pack is 288 mm high and 721 mm wide.

  • Since the thickness of all the modules is the same (76.6 mm), the length of the pack is determined by the number of modules. Besides the modules, each pack includes the PDU, which requires an additional 175 mm.
  • Pack length formula:  Module thickness (76.6 mm) X number of modules + 175 mm for PDU
  • For example, a 60 kWh 12X28 battery (10 modules) has a length of 76.6 mm X 10 + 175 mm = 941 mm
