The 2010 Annual Pole Pedal Paddle - Mt Bachelor, Oregon        May 15

The weather was good, our team took first place in our bracket...again,  good times in central Oregon:

This annual race event has been going on for decades. The race starts on the slopes of Mt Bachelor and ends in down town Bend Oregon.

The jet stream is pointing right at the starting point of the race.

There are thousands of competitors in this event as proven by the full parking lot in the middle of may.

This is my part of the race; the uphill sprint, jump into the skis, and head down a wide open GS downhill course.

The next wave is lined up for the sprint to their skis, while the following group is queued up

This was the largest field yet, over 50 people in our wave alone.

Being in the lead, this was my view of the course during the race:

A couple turns later, a teenager got by me so I picked up the pace a bit.   We entered the hand-off chute at the bottom simultaneously.  My part of the 2 hour race lasts a whopping 2 minutes.

I gave Einer the high five and he heads off into the woods on the 10km XC course.

Hanging out with Rob while waiting for our cross country skier to arrive.
